Valentine's Day Outfit Inspiration.

Hi everyone, how are you guys today? Looking forward to Vals right? I really dunno why I'm excited about Vals, cos most times I'm always indifferent about it, but this year's seems different, oh well....I guess there's nothing wrong in having a day dedicated to sharing gifts and all with your friends, giving to the less privileged or just having fun with your loved ones

Its about two weeks to valentine's day and there's no harm preparing for it, by looking for a special dress to wear that day. You don't have to spend a fortune. Or you could simply spice up a dress you already have by wearing accessories that match valentine's day colours. Below are some dresses you could wear for a dinner, party, lunch or just simply hanging out with your pals, because I know there's gonna be a lot parties and places to go on Val's day.

So look good and have fun to the max.....

Formal Chic

Hi, hope y'll doing okay? I'm not too bad myself, just thought I should share my outfit today with you guys, so I wore this outfit to school today, its a really cute biro blue satin shirt paired with a pencil skirt, flats and my 'go to everywhere bag' (you can never go wrong with a black bag).

Most Mondays, I always like to dress formal. And this was wasn't any different. This outfit is perfect for Work, you could just switch the flats for heels: court shoes, pumps, or strap shoes can just add that extra detail you need to make this a work outfit or you could simple just wear it with flats. As usual, I'm with minimal jewellery, although this outfit doesn't need one. Sometimes in fashion, Less is More....I guess

Denim Love

Hey everyone, how are you guys? I know its been a while, and am really sorry about that. Since I dnt have a pc right now, my phone is the only way I can blog, but its decided to break down too. I was able to fix it and was lucky to have this pictures, which I took last week in school.
I'm not one to tuck in on denim or any pants for that matter, because I feel like it draws a lot of attention to my butt, but I've been inspired lately, so I decided to suck it up and give It a try, there's just something about this pants that I love, I guess its because the colour of the denim is not the usual denim colour, its kinda washed...I think and I like the way it fits so perfectly, most times I don't get jeans that fit well, so I was really happy when my beautiful sister gave me these

I had two different looks with this denim pants, the first look was with a pink chiffon shirt, skinny belt and flats( I wear flats a lot, cos they are Just so comfortable for my usual 'waka' in school). The second look was with a shirt, same skinny belt and flats, I love how simple and yet classy it made me feel

Oh..and I love my hair too!!! (the weather is so hot right now), a short hair was just the perfect choice).

What fashion risks have you taken recently?

Beer Belly

Hey everyone, Its been a while I did a post on health, so I thought it was long due. And the first thing that came to my mind was the Beer Belly. I've noticed a lot of men, even younger ones are okay with a bigger mid-section, not saying it doesn't apply to women, it does, but today I'm hoping to give more insight on why its more common in men than women.

The relationship between alcohol and the infamous pouch popularly called Beer Belly or Pot-belly. If you're trying to lose weight, you probably need to stop drinking alcohol. But is it really beer that causes a "beer belly? Because its not all beer drinkers that have big bellies. It’s not necessarily beer but too many calories that can turn your trim waistline into a belly that protrudes over your pants. Any kind of calories -- whether from alcohol, sugary beverages, or oversized portions of food -- can increase belly fat. However, alcohol does seem to have a particular association with fat in the midsection.

"In general, alcohol intake is associated with bigger waists, because when you drink alcohol, the liver burns alcohol instead of fat," says Michael Jensen, MD, an endocrine expert and obesity researcher with the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

Beer also gets the blame because alcohol calories are so easy to overdo. A typical beer has 150 calories – and if you down several in one sitting, you can end up with serious calorie overload and don’t forget calories from the foods you wash down with those beers. Alcohol can increase your appetite. Further, when you're drinking beer at a bar or party, the food on hand is often fattening fare like pizza, wings, and other fried foods.

Why Does Fat Accumulate in the Belly?

When you take in more calories than you burn, the excess calories are stored as fat. Where your body stores that fat is determined in part by your age, sex, and hormones. Boys and girls start out with similar fat storage patterns, but puberty changes that. Women have more subcutaneous fat (the kind under the skin) than men, so those extra fat calories tend to be deposited in their arms, thighs, and buttocks, as well as their bellies. Because men have less subcutaneous fat, they store more in their bellies. That's why Men are more prone to this

Beer bellies tend to be more prominent in older people because as you get older, your calorie needs go down, you often become less active, and gaining weight gets easier. says Jensen

Belly fat in the midsection is linked to a variety of health problems, from type 2 diabetes to high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease. Carrying extra pounds in your thighs or hips is less risky than carrying them in the abdominal region...yeeh!!!. Further, subcutaneous fat that you can grab around your waist and on your thighs, hips, and buttocks is not as dangerous as the visceral fat that's found deep within the abdominal cavity surrounding your organs.

When waist circumference exceeds 35 inches for women and 40 for men, it is associated with an increased risk of heart disease, metabolic syndrome, and overall mortality," Jensen says. He cautions that these numbers are simply guidelines, and recommends keeping your waist size below these numbers.

Losing Your Belly

There is no magical way to tackle belly fat other than the tried-and-true method of cutting calories and getting more physical activity. Monounsaturated fats and so-called "belly fat" diets won’t trim your belly faster than any healthy, low-calorie diet, Jensen says.

Because of the link between alcohol calories and belly fat, drinking less alcohol is a good place to start. Beer lovers should opt for light beers with 100 calorie or less, and limit the number they drink per day. Another option is to drink alcohol only on weekends, and to alternate alcoholic drinks with low-calorie, non-alcohol beverages.

Don’t forget to have a healthy meal before or with your drinks to help you resist the temptation of high-calorie bar food. Doing sit-ups, crunches, or other abdominal exercises will strengthen your core muscles and help you hold in your belly fat, but won’t eliminate it. The only way to lose belly fat (or any kind of fat) is to lose weight.

Aerobic exercises like running, swimming, cycling, and tennis are some of the best to help reduce body fat. But "any kind of exercise will help you keep the weight off more effectively than diet alone," Jensen says.

The good news is that when you start losing weight, you tend to lose it in the midsection first. "Visceral fat is more metabolically active and can be broken down quicker than other fat," Jensen says, "so it is usually the first to go, especially when you have a lot to lose."

Now get out there and lose that Beer Belly!!!

Happy Birthday to me!!!!!!!!!

Happy Birthday to me,So thankful, very grateful. Most times I think I don't deserve to be alive, I feel I don't deserve the things that come my way, but God has been too Merciful to me and words alone cannot express how grateful I am for everything he has done for men, but from the deepest part of my heart,..I'm truly thankful Lord.

Sometimes when people say "Franka you are smart, ambitious, sexy, witty and beautiful", or simply say you are the Most beautiful person I've ever seen" I just smile, cause when ever I look at myself in the mirror, I try to see those things, but all I see is someone who's always scared: to take risks, to follow her dreams, to even ask questions when confused, someone who is scared to stand out.

I applaud myself anytime I feel like I've taken control of my fears and done something out of my comfort zone. I feel great when ever I say something and someone tells me I just said something smart, I feel Blessed when I inspire someone in my own little way. I feel fulfilled when I put a smile on someone's face, even if its just by giving out a sachet of water...For a long time I never thought I meant anything, but as each day passes by, I begin to see that am much more than a scared woman.

You are much more than you think you are, live each day as it comes, go out chase your dreams and always pray that you fulfil the purpose for which you've been created.

I had so much fun today, thanks to my wonderful friends: Dasola, kenny, Yinka, Azeez, Bunmi, Mide, just to mention a few..oops!! Before I forget, my yummy sis hopie. You guys made my day...Love y'all so much.

Here's to better fashion tips, fitness advice, diet tips and yes! Lots more.....
